Today we’re excited to meet with Tameka LaShae, the owner of Shae’s Sprays – and an advocate of natural scent remedies. Check out the interview below!
KW – What made you get into creating and selling essential oil sprays—was there a specific moment, meltdown, or miracle that pushed you into it?
Shae – I started using essential oils to create cleaning products during the pandemic and somehow transitioned to room sprays when I realized how good they smell.
KW – What inspired you to choose TikTok as your main platform? Was it intentional for growth, or did it just vibe with your content style?
Shae – I chose Tik Tok as my main platform because of the exposure that it could give me. There are so many people on Tik Tok that I figured it was the perfect place to sell my products.
KW – Which scent is your top seller right now, and what kind of customers are usually drawn to it?
Shae – My top seller is Lemon Delight, a blend of lemongrass, eucalyptus, and peppermint. Customers that love clean citrusy scents are usually drawn to it.
KW – How do you decide which ingredients go into each spray—and do you ever create custom blends based on customer requests or specific needs?
Shae – I don’t create custom blends and I try to see which oils blend well together whenever I create a new blend.
KW – What kind of feedback do you get from people who use your sprays? Any repeat stories, standout testimonials, or unexpected reactions?
Shae – Customers usually tell me that my products don’t irritate them like synthetic fragrances. I have had quite a few customers that said they don’t like the smell of essential oils but they love my products!
KW – What’s been your biggest win—or most viral moment—on TikTok so far, and why do you think that one popped off?
Shae – My biggest win has probably been getting comfortable with selling my products while on LIVE.
KW – How are you managing production, fulfillment, and scaling while keeping everything handmade? Have you hit any limits or burnout points yet?
Shae – So far I haven’t had any issues with keeping up with the demand for my products. Most of my products are made as they are ordered so I am really glad that I have been able to keep up!
KW – Where do you want your business to go in the next year—and what’s one thing you absolutely won’t compromise on as you grow?
Shae – In the next year I hope to start doing local vendor events and maybe get my products in some local stores. One thing that I won’t compromise on is using products that are not natural. I have no intention on ever using synthetic ingredients. Shae’s Sprays is about natural and nontoxic products so that is something that I can’t ever compromise on.
