K.W. – Thank you for agreeing to tell us your story today. Please tell us more about yourself.

Keizer – Myrrh D. Keizer, author of “Her Christmas Wolf”, “Wolf’s Bane: An Outlaw’s Love Story and the Heartfelt Holiday Silvercrest Series. I’m also a Senior Editor at Versedom. It is a new site created by an author for authors and gives 75 percent of an author’s book sales to the author. I am also suffering from a stroke.

K.W. – How did you get started and what things inspired you?

Keizer – I started out as a textbook and an essay writer for more than 30 years, then transitioned to fiction writing around 7 years ago. My first novels were erotica and fantasy in Dreame. Then I decided to create the Silvercrest Series in only three months then posted it in various sites including Amazon KDP. I was offered to create exclusives stories by 5 publishing sites afterwards. I stopped writing for two years because of my stroke but got back into it by January 2023 as part of my therapy. And the rest is history.

K.W. – Can you walk us through your process? How do you approach writing a new book?

Keizer – I am actually a character-based writer. I solidify them enough to interview them and ask them their story. I take notes then create an outline from the story I like best. I usually solidify at least 5 characters then choose which story I like best from all my interviews. After creating three blurbs, I submit them to the editor who requested the book. For now, I have put my writing on pause because of the Versedom Author’s Academy where I train, assist and mentor new writers who want to publish on our site, So far we have two graduates already and more upcoming.

K.W. – Who or what are your biggest influences? How do you stay inspired and creative?

Keizer – My favorite romance novelist has always been Barbara Cartland, but with the paranormal, such as werewolves it was a long lost friend who has taught me about the werewolf trope around 5 years ago, along with a deceased paranormal expert and many hours of research. I also have connections with my country’s local mafia who gave me pointers on my billionaire/mafia books. Also my interviews with actual prostitutes helped me create my BDSM and erotica novels, I stay inspired and creative bu continuing my interactions and interviews with my characters.

K.W. – What are some common challenges you face? How do you overcome these challenges?

Keizer – I don’t have problems with writer’s block because I just ask my characters what happens next then I write it down. My real challenge is how I get so tired easily since my stroke that I get lazy writing. So I decide to write despite this. I convince myself to continue writing and make a personal goal everyday that I can complete. Another new challenge now is my new job as SE and mentor but very fulfilling. I intend to get back to writing when I am able to walk on my own again because by then, I won’t be needing too many physical therapy sessions.

K.W. – How as the industry changed since you started? What trends do you see emerging?

Keizer – Before, werewolf, billionaire and Mafia stories were not that popular. Now they are the “in” thing. Thus works for me because I already have researched and written about them as early as 2020. I’m seeing more thriller and suspense stories making waves now and will mostly likely continue in the next few years. However, billionaire, mafia and other paranormal-based novels will continue to be popular in at least a decade or more, I believe.

K.W. – What advice would you give to other authors?

Keizer – Get to know your characters so well that your readers will love them as you do. This is what makes authors different from AI. We should know how our characters will react to various situations and write them with their own unique personalities. I also was a theater actress back in college and one lesson I learned in acting which I applied in novel writing is that each character has a “why” in doing anything they do. Find your character’s “why” in every scene so they stay ‘in character’. Your reader’s will appreciate your efforts and will love your character and your book, which is their story.

K.W. – What is your favorite charactter you’ve written and why?

Keizer -Ma’Heron Denar of the Heartfelt Holidays Silvercrest Series because he’s the parallel of my husband Hero De Narra.

K.W. – Are there any upcoming projects you’re excited about? What are your goals for the future?

Keizer – Yes, a loose fantasy version of my husband’s childhood entitled “A Royal Assassin’s Talisman”, A loose version of our love story entitled, “A Rejected Luna’s Marriage Proposal” and an upcoming billionaire mafia reverse harem love story entitled, “A New Year’s Romantic Resolution.” There are also a number of other upcoming books but you can already see their covers or video ads on my FB page: https://www.facebook.com/myra.butac/

However, my ultimate goal is to be able to walk on my own again by end of March.
