Today Author Sarah Lewin has graciously joined us. Please check out the interview below:
K.W. – Hello, please tell us a little about yourself and your works or collaborations.
S. Lewin – Hi my name is Sarah Lewin, I write mainly witchy vibe cozy mysteries, though I’m branching out into other genres. I am fairly new to authoring and only just finding out about collaborations etc
K.W. – Can you tell us a little bit about how you started and what inspires you?
S. Lewin – I’ve been writing since I was a child, but a couple of years ago, at fifty something, I was inspired to make a serious go of it. As a way of working through some issues, I created some strong, quirky, female characters, and now I just can’t stop writing.
K.W. – Can you walk us through your process? How do you approach writing a new book?
S. Lewin – It’s an eclectic process, there’s no particular structure to it, I just get an idea and write and write and then there’s 50 000 words to edit.
K.W. – Who or what are your biggest influences? How do you stay inspired and creative?
S. Lewin – I think reading my entire life, especially as a child, are my biggest influences – from children’s authors, to mystery and crime writers, and witchy ones as well.
K.W. – What are some common challenges you face? How do you overcome these challenges?
S. Lewin – I get cranky and frustrated easily and I don’t know what i don’t know. Marketing, finding out information I guess is my biggest frustration. I just persist, keep going until I figure it out.
K.W. – How has the industry changed since you started and what trends do you see emerging?
S. Lewin – I only started a couple of years ago. I dont know enough to comment on trends
K.W. – What advice would you give to other authors?
S. Lewin – Never give up
K.W. – What is your favorite character you’ve written and why?
S. Lewin – There’s a little bit of me in each of my strong women. Stella, Luna, Beth
K.W. – Do you have any upcoming projects or goals?
S. Lewin – So many goals, so many projects. I’m working on a non witchy book, then some other children’s books, and YA as well as more books in my cozy mystery series
