It is now 9.4.24, but I wrote this Aug. 18, 2024. It is the first poem I have written in more than, I think, a decade. And It came into my heart because I was missing my grown child.
All women who become mothers will experience this, hope to experience this and, yet, when the time arrives – are never really ready.
I call it Heart Child.
Heart Child
This is the hardest lesson for a mother.
I carried you with me,
and I always will.
I loved you from the first,
I love you still.
No matter where you go,
No matter where you will be
I must let you go, let you fly, set you free.
But you must never forget
In any space or time,
You will always and forever be my
Heart Child.
